
王珩 Heng Wang
Heng Wang, Taiwanese contemporary performer, choreographer, director, and art educator, received her professional education at the Taipei National University of Arts (Taiwan). From 2015 onwards, she choreographed at The Double Theatre and worked as the troupe’s co-artistic director. She also collaborates with different artists, continuously researching every possibility through the perspective of body and movement.
She has won several awards and been invited to residence and festivals. In 2016, she was invited as a guest artist at Anton Bruckner University (Austria) and co-choreographed “Duet” with Kai-Chun Chuang. In 2017 her international breakthrough came with collaborating her work “Rethink III” with VJ artist Pei-Yi Tsai which won the Digital Arts Award of the Anthology Award and was nominated at the Womencinemakers Film Festival. While in the same year, her co-directed full-length theatre piece in The Double Theatre “Far Away” and “Her” was invited to the Besancon Theatre Festival in France, South Nangu Alley Theatre Festival in Beijing, and EX-Theatre Asia Festival in Taiwan.
She has self-choreographed full-length work throughout her career. In 2015, she adapted Martin Crimps’” Attempts on Her Life” at Taipei Fringe Festival. In 2019, she presented her second full-length “Building a Nation by the Name of God” which was invited to the Play Art Festival in 2020. In the same year, she started “Project of Choreographing Stories” which creates through the progress of field working and researching with non-dancers and perform in the form of documentary theatre from the perspective of body and movement and developed “GO! GO! AND BEYOND” which was invited to attend Taipei Fringe Festival in 2019. “Skip Stich” was performed in 2020 and invited to the Want to Dance Festival in 2021. “Seasons” is invited to the Taoyuan Iron Rose Festival and will be premiered in 2021 October.
